NEWINGTON CREDIT UNION DONATES £5000 TO NI HOSPICE
Newington Credit Union are celebrating a wonderful 50 years and in this time it has has grown from strength to strength. The purpose of this Credit Union was to enable people to help themselves in relieving debt and poverty. To note this milestone the donation committee has decided to make a huge donation of £5000 to NI Hospice.
Briege Lewis President of Newington Credit Union stated; “This is the launch of our 50th year and we are delighted that we are able to make this donation which will make such a difference. Knowing the money we have donated will be used to provide care and support to those who rely on it is a great cause. Northern Ireland Hospice makes a real life difference and have such a positive impact on the patients and families they work with.”
Northern Ireland Hospice cares for 3,500 babies, children and adults with life-limiting illnesses and their families each year. Demand for Hospice services in Northern Ireland is increasing and the charity is now caring for over 90% of patients in their own homes. Whilst Hospice care is free to the patient, it is not free to provide and the charity relies heavily on support and donations from the public.
Michael Nugent, Community Fundraiser for Northern Ireland Hospice added; “Northern Ireland Hospice is a charity caring for local people. We could not provide this vital care in the community without the support of this local business. We would like to sincerely thank Newington credit union for this generous donation which will give NI Hospice the chance to care for more families at what is a very difficult time in their lives. This support has made a real difference to the lives of the patients and their families that Hospice cares for.”
