Go That Extra Mile for the Northern Ireland Hospice |
|
We are currently looking to recruit volunteers who would be able to help out at the 11 hospice walks taking place on Thursday 10th, Saturday 12th or Saturday 19th April 2008.
We are particularly keen to recruit helpers in the following areas:
1) Meeting and greeting walkers at the start or finish of our walks 2) Signing on walkers at the start 3) Marshalling along the walk route or 4) Giving out refreshments/sweets
Volunteers would be needed on Thursday 10th April from 7pm-9pm, and from 9.00am-1pm on Saturday the 12th and 19th April. If you can spare us a few hours of your time it will make a real difference to us? The Hospice walk is our largest single fundraising event, and this year we expect many thousands of people to take part. Why not step up to the challenge and have some fun whilst helping the hospice raise vital funds for patient care?
If you would like any further information on being a Hospice Walk volunteer please telephone the Hospice Walk helpline on: 02890 777 123 or visit the Hospice Walk 2008 page on this website. Northern Ireland Hospice Care was set up in 1983 to provide care for patients with life threatening illnesses and to give support to their families. Since then we have continued to develop in response to increasing patient referrals, both in hospice and at home. The adult hospice opened in 1985. We also provide a children’s hospice which opened in 2001.
There is no charge for hospice care; it is available to EVERYONE on the basis of need. We need over £6.7 million each year to sustain adult and children services, of which we rely heavily on donations and legacies. Without the generosity of the Northern Ireland public, we would be unable to make a difference in people’s lives.
