We urgently need to raise £350,000 to redevelop this site and building and make it fit for purpose. Horizon West, will offer a comfortable and friendly environment to provide day care and respite care for children with life limiting illnesses and offer support to their families. Here are just some of the ways you can help:

Northern Ireland Hospice Care already provides services for children living in the Fermanagh and Tyrone area. Care for life-limited children and their families living in the area is available at home through the community teams. However, a need has now been identified for flexible day care and respite services. Currently there are over 60 families in the Western Health board area who use the children’s hospice services. If these families wish to use our inpatient facilities they could face a round trip of 180 miles to Horizon House in Belfast; this drive is particularly difficult with a life limited child. The opening of Horizon West will mean families have a shorter distance to travel and are closer to their child and more families will be able to receive inpatient care. Services at the newly renovated Horizon West will include: • Flexible Day Care To make the property suitable for these services it will need extensive renovation and refurbishment. We estimate this will cost us £350,000 plus another £200,000 per year in running costs. This cost will be in addition to the £1.8 million it currently takes to run our services each year. We are now counting on the public to help us reach our target and help more families of life limited children in Northern Ireland.
