Hospice helps families remember loved ones |
|
Many families and friends seek advice from Northern Ireland Hospice Care (NIHC) as to how they can support our work and at the same time establish a permanent and lasting tribute to those they have lost. NIHC have responded by launching a new Tribute Fund Programme and speaking at the launch Mrs Geraldine McCormick explained why she and her family set up a fund in memory of her husband Liam. “Liam was a wonderful man, father and husband. When I am gone Liam’s memory will live on through his Tribute Fund and the tree dedicated in his memory. I want to thank NIHC for all the care and support they gave to Liam during his illness and I think that this is a lovely way of remembering Liam whilst also helping other families like ours when they need hospice most.” At a difficult time, setting up a fund can provide a focus for people by drawing friends and family together and providing a positive way of keeping the memory of a loved one alive.
NIHC is working in partnership with the Woodland Trust to dedicate a tree in memory of all those in who’s honour a fund is set up. At the launch of this new initiative, President of NIHC, Paul Clark and Patrick Cregg, Regional Director of the Woodland Trust were on hand to help Mrs Violet Murray dedicate the first tree in memory of her son Jason.
